Instructions for a Light & Sound Machine, 2005 - ★★★★

Tscherkassky manages to surprise me every time I watch one of his movies.

This time, he managed to take footage from the Good, the Bad and the Ugly and cut it into something completely different, with Eli Wallach as the main character instead of a side-character. And finally, in the fourth movie of his I saw, he managed to create a full narrative, that totally makes sense.

We get the story of this cowboy that is hanged (and probably shot), dies and wakes up back on a big cemetery. Or maybe that's hell. Who knows. Probably not even Tscherkassky himself.

The visuals are great, it is really interesting to look at. It's in black and white and he really managed to make a complete, easy to understand story out of an old movie. As a short, this is really enjoyable and quickly watched.

I'm rating it 4 out of 5 stars and a big like.
