I've seen French Experimental films from the 60s with better pacing than this.
I'm a movie fan and a horror geek. This is my blog about movies and horror. Enjoy ;)

Last 10 Top 10 #22 of 2016
Another 10 movies, another Last 10 Top 10. If you wondered how I rate Nightmare on Elm Street 2 against 3, you'll know today.
Martyrs maybe objectively is not the best movie of this list. But to me, it just managed to scare me and make me scarred for life while also making me think and wonder, which is what I look for in a horror movie. So it's got to be my number 1.
Raising Arizona, the first Coen-Brothers movie still features all their trademarks: people doing wrong things, getting into trouble, all set in some desert-like area, cast including John Goodman. It was a funny movie, with good acting and it was just all in all an enjoyable time.
Wall Street is just a well done movie about the Stock Market. Not much to say about it to be honest.
Maniac is another of those horror movies that was disturbing, well acted and made you think a little. I enjoyed it, the gore was epic, and also I love Elijah Wood.
The snails just managed to scare me and make me scarred for life while also making me think and wonder, which is what I look for in a horror movie. So it's got to be my number... wait wrong review. The snails was just crazy, it was a random mubi watch, I knew nothing about it and it just caught me by surprise. And it is fucked up.
Another fucked up cartoon I watched is El Superbeasto, an animated movie by Rob Zombie. As you can see in my review, this movie just hit all the right spots for me, I really enjoyed it, but of course I know it is not high art.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors... What can I say? I love me some Freddy K. And after quite the departure from the original in the second movie (I'll come to it in a second), this got us back to the roots, furthering the Freddy lore, bringing back Nancy and her dad, and giving Freddy some more one liners. All in all a fun installment.
Ahh, Freddy's Revenge. Hated by many. This isn't a bad movie per se. It just made the mistake of putting Freddy into the mix. If you take out Freddy and just put in a random Demon, you got yourself Insidious, just about 25 years prior.
What can I say about curses? The song was good. Sadly, I was not in the mood for that artsy kind of movie, so I couldn't really appreciate it, I'd have to rewatch it with the right mindset to like it more.
And lastly we got Fuck for Forest, a documentary about a very different kind of organisation. At first I was intrigued by the idea, but that idea mixed with kind of not really likable people, the most monotone narration ever put to film and seemingly a message that takes a jump from "great organisation that is really something different" to "basically just ambitious hippie kids that don't know the real world" around halfway through, this documentary wasn't really good or fun. I didn't really like it, that's why it's number 10.
So this was a fun list, let's see how the next ten go, starting off with a letterboxd movie night. Great start... See you soon.
Maniac, 2012 - ★★★½
Well I guess Gandalf was right about these Hobbits being stealthy. Frodo walks right behind these girls without being seen or heard.
I liked the idea of having this movie out of the POV of the killer himself, and it really was quite good. The gore was well done.
The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, 2009
This movie is totally weird and crazy and fucked up, throwing movie references at you every second.
My favorite part is the intro, a word for word quote of the beginning of FRANKENSTEIN.
It's not for everyone, but I'm a sucker for it.

Last 10 Top 10 #15 of 2016
After I stopped doing it for a while I'm now going back and going on ranking my Last 10 Top 10 movies of 2016. This is number 15, so it includes the 150th movie watched this year. Yay.
Inside Out was just a really fun time, I don't think I have to explain it being ranked that high.
Second is Escape from New York, a fun action flick by John Carpenter, set in a different, interesting world. I had fun for sure.
Adventureland was also fun, I watched it on TV and in German dub, and it wasn't something special at all, but it was not bad.
I love Stephen King. A Good Marriage is based on one of King's short stories, and I have actually read it some time ago. I liked the story, and I enjoyed how they put it to film, it wasn't bad and the acting was well done.
Probably one of my highest Letterboxd Movie Night watches, the Record Breaker is a documentary short about a guy breaking quite a few records. It was interesting and a great time with the letterboxd crew.
The Toxic Avenger is just weird and crazy. Better done that I thought, I gotta say that. But it's Troma, for sure.
A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell is also Troma, but not as well done, and actually quite crazy. Fun watching with the letterboxd people though.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: A Family Portrait is a documentary about the making of TCM. It wasn't bad, but to be honest it wasn't well done, and it was not really entertaining.
Mausoleum was ... well it was something. Not really sure what to say about it, it's really weird and crazy and I just bought it cause it looked like a "so bad it's good" movie, and that's what it was, just not good enough, in the end.
Scars of Dracula could have been further up I guess. But to be completely honest, I watched this almost 3 months ago and I don't remember a thing. I did not really pay attention to Adventureland, but I remember more about it than I did about Scars of Dracula, which in the end means to me it was the least interesting, the least enjoyable.
That's my list for those 10, I'll go on to the next one immediately, hoping to get through them all today. Hope you'll read on.
