Wow this was a rollercoaster of emotions. Switching between "Oh god this is terrible" and "oh wow this is impressive" with stops at "that doesn't make any sense" and "that's a genius idea".
It starts off as a terrible period piece, then we cut to an inventive part set in the 70s before going to modern times and the movie really starting.
Now that 70s scene closely resembles the Sharon Tate murder by the manson family which I find a little tasteless, especially since the rest of the movie is about reenacting that once again.
Also there is an excessive use of nudity, lots of which is just there with no reason and unnecessary. On the other hand this is about a snuff film so maybe the director wanted to say something about voyeurism.
After around 50 minutes the movie takes a turn and becomes actually interesting and kind of crazy. There is lots of gore and while it's cheaply made it still looks very realistic for the most part.
Also there are so many twists and turns in the last half it's kinda too much almost.
I feel the director wanted to tell us something with this movie, which I like. But still, the first half was just boringness sprinkled with too much nudity and weird creepieness (not the one you want in a horror movie), but I enjoyed parts of it and the overall idea as well.
I'm rating this movie 2 out of 5 stars.
