Insidious: Chapter 3, 2015 - ★★

So I guess the Insidious series is now just about Elise? And maybe about the Black Widow ghost.

I was mostly annoyed by Insidious: Chapter 2. But I decided I own it so I might as well watch chapter 3, too. It's now a prequel, so it might be a little different at least.

While I was not scared at all in chapter 2, this chapter at least has a few scary moments. Sadly it also has lots and lots of jump scares. Way to many jumps cares. And I'm sure some of them would work better if we didn't have music doing the JUMP even when nothing is jumping.

There were lots of useless characters and scenes without any real sense. The best friend character who we see for maybe 5 minutes in the whole movie doesn't add anything to the plot, neither does the hot neighbor/love interest who is gone after the halfway point without adding anything really.

Even the main character is reduced to a ragdoll after halfway through, at which point focus switches to Elise and the two nerds.

Adding to the useless scenes are all these scenes that are just there to connect the movie back to the original movies, like when Elise is telling the guys to switch up their style.

All in all I was pretty annoyed by this movie and not really scared at all. I think if a few scenes where done a little different there would be at least some scarier scenes, but sadly, they did not deliver.
2 out of 5 stars from me.
