Alphabetical April (April 2015 Challenge)
I found the idea for this challenge on reddit, where Sean Wu postet this List.
So I decided to do the challenge, too.
Never challenged myself before, or when I did I didn't publicly, so I'll try it.
I will try to watch 26 Movies, every movie with a different letter. I won't watch them in any specific order, just what I feel like watching. And I will write a review for every movie, so no one thinks I am cheating and just clicking the "watched" button ;)
If you wanna try this challenge too, just make your own list and tag it as "alphabetical april 2015"
Have fun
- A.I. Artificial Intelligence
- Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
- Cast Away
- Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
- Eagle Eye
- Furious 7
- Gladiator
- Harry Brown
- Into the Wild
- Jumanji
...plus 15 more. View the full list on Letterboxd.

Ted, 2012 - ★★★½
I've tried TED once before and stopped after some time because i didn't like it.
Today it was on on TV and i was with friends so we watched it. So I didn't pay attention all the time, but i think I saw enough to write a review.
So, it was a typical Seth McFarlane movie, the story is ... i'd say "okay", the movie isn't about the story though. It is about the jokes. And those are pretty good, even though most of them work just because of the shock value.
All in all it's much like a 90 minute Family Guy episode, it even has Seth McFarlane and Mila Kunis.
So if you are in the mood for poop jokes and pretty dirty humor, you'll probably have a fun time.
3 1/2 out of 5 stars is my rating.
The Last Employee, 2010 - ★★★
As a german horror fan I of course had to watch this german horror film.
The idea alone is as German as it can be: The lawyer David (Christian Berkel) gets a new office job where he has to fire all the employees because the office isn't profitable. Then he has to sit alone in the big office and finish work (or something like that, I'm not quite sure).
One employee, Mrs Blochs (Bibiana Beglau) doesn't take this the easy way and after talking to him for some time ends up killing herself, which is not a spoiler to me because without her killing herself the story wouldn't really work)
After that he seems to be visited by her ghost. Or maybe he is just going crazy, who knows?
It was a pretty good movie, especially since it was made in Germany. It has some pretty gory scenes and the acting isn't that bad.
Also it has my favorite subplot ever, a subplot about SNAILS.
I give it 3 Stars out of 5.

The Ring, 2002 - ★★★★
I saw "the Ring" before. I still remember this was THE FILM when it came to horror when I was a kid. I'll never forget when a friend told me "I saw the Ring on the weekend, I couldn't sleep the night I saw it."
Of course I HAD to watch it. And I did. With a big group of friends. After having seen Scary Movie 3 (the parody of the Ring) at least 4 times.
So all in all, it didn't have the effect I wished it had.
So i shelved it and haven't watched it for many years. Now I'm grown up. I haven't seen Scary Movie in forever. I watched it alone. And this time it worked. I really enjoyed it and was genuinely scared at some points.
But after talking about my story with this I'll talk about the movie now.
Rachel (Naomie Watts) finds a videotape that looks like a weird student art film, and after she watches it her phone rings and a voice says she has 7 days to live. Now she tries to find out how to survive.
The movie feels like a crime movie, Rachel tries to find out who made this video and we follow her research. But what she finds out is really scary.
The acting was quite good. The characters were characters you cared about.
What I think is the most important part: it managed to build a creepy atmosphere without depending on jump scares. Of course there are some jumps in there, but mostly it's really the atmosphere.
By the way, the "Video" is really scary and I know it's on the DVD extras but I'm not sure if I wanna watch it.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Kick-Ass 2, 2013 - ★★★★½
Just watched this movie.
I heard lots of people say this movie was shitty, or at least worse than the first Kick-Ass movie, not as fun and stuff like that.
I gotta say I don't think so. For me it was lots of fun.
I really enjoyed this movie and had a fun time.
After a few years the Kick-Ass hype changed the world, there are Superheros everywhere now. And they form teams.
And I love the superhero team depicted in this movie (mostly because I love Jim Carrey and Donald Faison but whatever.
I had lots of laughs but also got hit hard at certain moments that I won't spoil.
All in all a great time, I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
