I'll try to do a Last 10 Top 10 every 10 movies I watch in 2016. This time actually a few bad ones, or at least not as good ones. as I usually have.
The Seven Samurai was just really good. It is an epic movie and very long, maybe a little too long, but that's okay. Just on a technical level this was the best movie out of these 10 for sure. And it was good.
The Equalizer was the most fun I had this last 10. It is not a perfect movie. But it's really fun to just turn off your head for 2 hours and enjoy the ride. I love movies about people that are just good at something, so this was a great ride.
I wanted to see Blackout for quite some time now. Found the DVD a few months ago and kind of forgot about it, but now I finally watched it. Littlefinger from Game of Thrones and the lesbian daughter of Charlie Sheen trapped in an elevator. It is well shot and has a nice slow reveal, I liked it.
The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain. The movie is a romantic comedy, but also has more to it. It was funny and I enjoyed it.
The story about a group of influential writers, Kill your Darlings, is very interesting. I watched it because it has Harry Potter and Dexter in the same movie. The acting is great and I enjoyed the movie.
The last good movie on my list, Human Traffic, is about partying teens in Cardiff. I felt it really accurately reflected a night of partying, which you don't see often. It showed the bad things, but didn't shy away of showing the good things that happen. I enjoyed it.
Tekken: Blood Vengeance wasn't bad. It just wasn't good either. It was down in the middle and if I wasn't such a fan of the Tekken video games I probably wouldn't have watched it at all. It was pretty middle of the road.
Now to the first part of the Letterboxd Movie Night. Leslie Nielsen's Bad Golf Made Easier is almost on one level with Tekken. It mostly wasn't funny, or what was more funny was the conversation in the chat.
Talking about not being funny, I also watched Hot Bot which I watched because it has Donald Faison in it and was new on Netflix. It was shit. I actually just fought myself through it because I didn't want to have that movie lying there, forever, unfinished. Not worth watching at all. It only doesn't have a half star because it actually looked got, was well shot and had some good performances.
Last but not least, The Galaxy Invader. This was actually more funny than Hot Bot, but not as well done and not intentionally. But the Letterboxd Movie Night made it worth the watch, I really had a good time with this movie but I have to put it at #10, because it is just really really bad.
So yeah, many bad movies this time. My next list is already in the making, it will be my weirdest mix of movies so far. Until then, have a good 10 movies ;)
