Plan 9 from Outer Space, 1959

You can also find this review on Letterboxd

Watched as main feature at theLetterboxd Movie Night.

This was my birthday wish for the letterboxd movie night and to be honest, I had fun. I missed the first 10 to 15 minutes because of some mistakes with the web player, but I don't think you need to see them to fully appreciate the movie.

I don't know if this is a spoiler but I won't mark it as one. I'm going to tell you what PLAN 9 is, because that's the story. Plan 9 comes from Aliens (outer space, Ed Wood was a genious) and the Plan is to awaken the dead to ... see how humans react ... I think. Well suddenly at the end there is a message that they clearly copied in the original "The Day the Earth stood still", that humans are bad and the aliens came to stop the humans from killing themselves and everyone around them. But these aliens wanna kill every human.

The acting is ... to be honest, there is no acting. Maybe the scenes where Bela Lugosi is sniffing a flower and then running around in a cape are acting, but that's it.
Oh yeah, by the way, in case you didn't know, this is Bela Lugosis last movie ever. He died after shooting some of the scenes with his friend Ed. So Ed Wood, master of putting some story around disjoint scenes, made a movie around those scenes of Bela Lugosi.
Also in this is Elvir.... Vampira, a TV-personality of the time.
Oh and Wrestler Tor Johnson.
So all in all, a star studded cast.

The sets are pretty shitty, sometimes non-existent.

But all in all, I still had fun watching this. Maybe it's because before I've seen any of his movies, I've seen Ed Wood by Tim Burton, and I really sympathise with him. He just loves movies and makes them, if he is good in it or not doesn't matter. I feel the same way writing these reviews, I love movies and I wanna write about them, I don't care who likes them.
That's why I can't really hate on this movie.

And that is why I can't rate this movie either. I'll just leave it a like and let you decide if you wanna watch it.
