Wanted to see that for some time already, never got to it until yesterday.
I'm not going to spoil too much but it's about a normal guy called Héctor (Karra Elejalde) who is followed by a man with a pink bandage around his head. He is pretty sure that guy is trying to kill him, so he ends up being saved by El Joven (played by the director, Nacho Vigalondo) by crawling into a weird machine ... and getting out of it a few hours before he got in.
I don't wanna spoil this movie because it is so much fun to watch and find stuff out yourself, or at least with the character himself. But let me say this is a smart time travel movie. Even though there always has to be some suspension of disbelieve, most of it makes sense if you believe that time travel is possible.
The guy in the pink bandage is so funny and kind of reminded me of "The town that dreaded sundown", because the killer of that movie is also "having fun".
The acting is really good, there are only 4 actors seen on screen and they all well acted. Karra Elejalde is not really what you think of when you think of a leading man, but he totally is in this movie. At first it feels a bit weird but he gets more and more awesome as time goes on.
The character makes some stupid decisions, but I guess that's needed to further the storyline.
Director Nacho Vigalondo did a great job in hiding everything, I really didn't guess anything that happened, especially later in the movie I was really cought off guard.
Also I have to say this movie is more than a "Sci-Fi Thriller". It has Sci-Fi elements, it has Thriller elements, it has Horror elements, it has comedy. It also has romance in it. So there is lots to get out of this.
All in all I really enjoyed this movie and it had lots of omg-moments.
I'm rating Timecrimes 4.5 out of 5 stars and giving it a like.
